Pauline (Lena) Garcia went to her real home, Heaven, to be with her Lord Jesus Christ, on September 19, 2001, at 12:55 p.m. Pauline was born on June 22, 1931 in Albuquerque to Manuel and Guadalupe Garcia. Mrs. Salcido graduated from Albuquerque High School in 1950, then from Regina School of Nursing in Albuquerque with her Associate Degree in Nursing in 1954. Pauline worked as an RN at St. Joseph's prenatal care unit for a number of years, then she worked with Dr. Jack Adams until her retirement in 1992, at which time she went to work in the family business, Los Techos Roofing, until she became ill. Mrs. Salcido is survived by her husband of 47 years, Isidro (Joe) Salcido; three daughters, Geretta Abeyta and husband, Benjamin, Katherine Salazar and husband, Eliud, Elizabeth Montoya and husband, Michael; and one son, Robert Salcido; nine grandchildren, Audrey Ruiz, Benjamin, Cynthia and Daniel Abeyta, Zaqueo, Andres and Guadalupita Salazar, Michael and Dylan Montoya; she is also survived by her brother, Manuel Garcia and wife, Priscilla; three sisters, Rena Flores, Toni Ewing and husband, Jim all of Albuquerque and Tommie Smith and husband, Bob of Denver, CO. Mrs. Salcido was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Delfino Garcia; and one child, Mary Salcido. She was actively involved at the Holy Child Catholic Church in Tijeras, NM as a Eucharistic Minister, and in the Holy Alter Society. Our beloved wife and mother lived a life of love and serving God and others. She faithfully gave of herself to God's work and was a powerful prayer warrior. The Holy Rosary will be recited Friday evening, September 21, 2001 7:00 p.m. and Holy Mass at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 22, 2001 at the Holy Child Catholic Church in Tijeras, NM. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the American Cancer Society. Reception will be held in the Holy Child Parish Hall following Mass. Direct Services is handling arrangements 343-8008.
