Obituary for Matteucci

Henry Americo (Junior) Matteucci, passed away October 1, 2001, after a long illness. He was a lifetime resident of Albuquerque. He was the last surviving son of Pompilo Matteucci, the founder of the Paris Shoe Stores. Many will remember him as the store manager of the uptown Nob Hill store and later the Montgomery Plaza store. His dedication to ensuring the proper fit for his customers, especially the children's shoes will be remembered by multi-generations of his customers. Mr. Matteucci was an avid golfer. He participated in many tournaments, winning several of them. Mr. Matteucci was preceded in death by his parent, Pompilo and Germena Matteucci; his brothers, Pete, Albert, Rolando, and Louis; his sister, Marie (Banny) Del Frate. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Joanna; his stepdaughter, Elizabeth Jo Woodin, of Phoenix, AZ; sisters-in-law, Ida Matteucci (wife of Albert) and Nellie Matteucci (wife of Louis); several nieces and nephews. Cremation has occurred and Private Services to celebrate his life have been held. The family would like to send a special thank you to the dedicated caretakers, Sandia Hospice Staff, friends and other family members who assisted with his care. Without all of them, he could not have remained in the comfortable surroundings of his own home.
