Luellen Garrett of Nevada City, California died at her home Wednesday, January 31, 2001 at the age of 73. In accordance with her wishes, there will be no services. Burial is at Sierra Memorial Lawn Cemetary in Nevada City. Mrs. Garrett was born in Albuquerque, N.M., to Clarence M. and Maude B. Saunders on March 5, 1927. She married Kenneth S. Garrett on Feb. 2, 1946 in Albuquerque Mrs. Garrett was a switchboard operator, a hotel receptionist, and homemaker. She enjoyed studying astrology and cats. she had numerous relatives She is survived by her daughter, Deborah Garrett of Grass Valley; sons, Stanley Garrett of Kaneohe, Hawaii, and Donald Garrett of Truckee, California; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Mrs. Garrett was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth S. Garrett, in January of 1998, brothers, Alton Saunders, Roy Saunders, sisters, Norma Trammell, Hazel Young, and Christine Chafin. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Foothills, 12399 Nevada City Highway, Grass Valley, or the Cancer Aid Thrift Store, 317 So. Auburn St., Grass Valley.
