Opal May Kendall, 83, a resident of Peralta for 28 years, passed away at a local hospital on April 9, 2001. She was born in Mustang, OK on September 14, 1917 to the late Redden and Addie Goodwin. Opal is survived by her daughter, Karen Cox, of Albuquerque; her son, Wade Kendall, of Peralta; sisters Violet Lucero and Betty Jean Hamilton; three grandchildren, Kay Lynn Newmann; David Cox, and Wyeth Cox; and two great-grandchildren, Alex Newmann and Chelsea Newmann. Visitation will take place from 4:00p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 12, 2001 at Fitzgerald and Son Funeral Directors, 3113 Carlisle NE. A Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, April 14, 2001 at 10:00 a.m. at Sandia Memory Gardens, 9500 San Pedro NE. Pastor Trey Hammond will officiate. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Opal's memory to the American Diabetes Association-NM Affiliate, 525 San Pedro NE, 87108. Fitzgerald and Son Funeral Directors are in charge of her arrangements.
