Born in Vienna, Austria in 1916, Kurt immigrated to Chicago, Illinois in 1938, escaping Nazi persecution. Bringing with him his enthusiasm and love for life, music, nature and art, he came to Albuquerque in 1950 and established Kurts Camera Corral, eventually expanding to three locations. Kurt enriched our community, devoting his time and resources to Jewish and cultural endeavors. He was president of Congregation B'nai Israel, B?nai Brith, and was the founding president of the Friends of Music, an organization to establish music scholarships at U.N.M He was an avid supporter of the symphony and opera and was an active fund raiser for causes like Project Share. He enjoyed skiing, tennis, art, and travel, and was a devoted soccer fan. The quality of his life, his character and his personality served as an example for many and will be missed by many more. This snapshot of his life does not compare to the reality of a life well lived with gusto, enthusiasm, beauty, and joy.
