Obituary for Davis

Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Sunday April 29, 2001

William Eugene "Billy" Davis, was born November 15, 1951 in Battle Creek, Michigan but lived most of his life in Albuquerque. Many times we hear of people who are praised for the success and wonder of their lives and contributions to our world. But, there are also those who touch our lives just by being who they are. We are all put on this earth to fulfill a purpose and to find meaning for our lives. Billy was born with Down syndrome. While he did not achieve degrees in higher education or contribute his time to service organizations he had a very specific purpose for being. His purpose was to be a teacher. He taught us compassion, patience, and understanding for others who are different. He defined who we are as a family and helped shape who we are as individuals. Billy is survived by his devoted and loving parents, Dr. B.J. and Jean Davis of Albuquerque; his sister, Denise Davis and her husband, Tom Wilber, of Albuquerque; his brothers, Bruce Davis and his wife, Tina, of Albuquerque, Steve Davis and his wife, Christina, of Walnut, California, and Ron Davis and his wife, Renee, of Albuquerque. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews Bryan Matysiak of San Marcos, Texas; Brandon, Aaron, Desiree and Chad Davis of Albuquerque; Brittany and Aubrey Davis of Walnut, California; and Kaila and Sean Davis of Albuquerque. He also has many loving aunts, uncles and cousins. Forever a child, he has blessed our lives without comparison, we love you Bill.
