Bryan -- Lifelong New Mexico rancher, Edward O. Bryan, 79, a resident of Belen, passed away on Wednesday, October 28, 1998. Ed was a member of the New Mexico Brand Board. He is survived by Ruth Galon of the family home in Belen; children, Jo Ann Cook of Deming, NM, Carolyn Wilson and husband, Bill of Corona, NM, Clifford Cook and wife, Valerie of Houston, TX, Evelyn Kirby and husband, Charles of Las Cruces, NM, Patricia Major and husband, Stuart of Belen, and Buck Bryan and wife, Sandy of Phoenix, AZ. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren; and sister, Mary Jane Nunn of Hillsboro, NM. Funeral services will take place on Saturday, 10:00 a.m., at Romero Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Terrace Grove Cemetery. Romero Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Chavez -- John J. Chavez, 88, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away on October 28, 1998. Mr. Chavez is survived by one daughter, Gloria Gean Jaramillo and husband, Daniel; one son, John Chavez, Jr. and wife, Alice; one brother, Tommy Chavez and wife, Frances; seven grandchildren, Danny, Juliana, Debbie, Denise, Sherry, Kim and Joe; three great-grandchildren. Mr. Chavez was a member of the Catholic Church. Visitation for Mr. Chavez will be Friday morning after 10:00 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church, 562 Atrisco SW, with a Rosary to be recited at 10:30 a.m. by Albert Parra. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. by Father Jack. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Duran -- Mr. Philip"Pito" B. Duran, Sr. died Wednesday in Albuquerque at the age of 80. Mr. Duran was a member of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church. He was a veteran of World War II and he worked for the Navajo Freight Line (ABF) for 12 years. He was a loving father to his sons, Philip B. Duran, Jr., Eddie S. Duran, and John N. Duran and wife, Linda; and his daughter, Jessie Morris. He is also survived by brothers, Mike Duran and wife, Carmen, Joe Duran and wife, Isabel, and George Duran; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Funeral services for Mr. Duran will be held on Saturday at the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, where the Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at the San Carlos Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Robert Duran, Philip Zamora, Philip Urioste, David Barbero, Joseph Guardiola and John Barela. Esquibel -- Alice Esquibel passed away October 28, 1998. She is survived by her husband, Jimmy; daughter, Alice Theresa Sanchez; and son, James Larry Esquibel. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Ashley Sanchez, Jasmine Sanchez, Elizabeth Trujillo, Samantha Esquibel, Marinez Esquibel. She is also survived by her parents, Fidencio and Rita Montoya; sisters, Josie Montano and Andy, Vangie Luna and Dimas, Diana Tober and Wayne, Elaine Herrera and Steven; and her brother, Joe N. Montoya. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, daughter and sister. A Rosary will be recited Saturday and Sunday at 7:00 p.m. in the chapel of Alameda Mortuary. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Monday at 11:00 a.m. at Nativity of Blessed Virgin Mary in Alameda. Interment to follow at Mt. Carmel. Flores -- Charlie"Carlos" Flores, 62, passed away at an Albuquerque hospital on Tuesday, October 27, 1998. He was a resident of Abo, New Mexico and served in the U.S. Army. Mr. Flores was preceded in death by his parents, Meliton and Romelia Flores; his grandparents, Nicholas and Pablita Sisneros and Carlos and Consolacion Flores. He is survived by his loving wife, Angelita (Helen) Flores of the family home; one daughter, Sandra Sisneros and husband, Martin of Belen; three sons, Stephen Flores and wife, Patsy of Belen, Anthony Flores and wife, Yvette of Veguita, and Tommy Flores and wife, Natalie of Las Nutrias; three sisters, Cecelia McCormick and husband, Doc of Shingletown, CA, Vivian Padilla of Phoenix,AZ and Sally Martinez of Albuquerque; three brothers, Meliton Flores and wife, Esther of Albuquerque, Richard Flores of Albuquerque and Secodino Flores and wife, Diana, also of Albuquerque. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Abenicio Sisneros, Fernando Sisneros, Martin Sisneros, Jr., Juan Diego Sisneros, Issiah Sisneros, Domingo Flores, Ruben Flores, Victoria Flores, Romelia Flores, Crystal Flores, Ingrid Flores, Savannah Flores, and Angelica Flores. Gardner -- Ruth L. Gardner, 90, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, passed away October 27, 1998. She is survived by her son, Jerry Gardner and wife, Dolores of Pampa, TX; grandchildren, Wade and wife, Tana of Pampa, TX, Torrey and wife, Brandy of Vernon, TX; two great-grandchildren, Trenton Gardner and Chance Gardner. She was a member of Alpha Chi Omega and Eastern Star. Gunn -- Wallace"Wally" Gunn of New Laguna, passed away in Grants, NM early Tuesday morning. He was 90. Wallace was born in New Laguna on June 11, 1908 to Kenneth C.C. Gunn and Meta Atsye Gunn. He was preceded in death by his wife of over 50 years, Mary Gunn; one son, Robert Gunn; two brothers, Bruce Gunn and John R. Gunn; three sisters, Agnes Gottlieb, Jessie Humphries, and Florence Gunn. Wallace is survived by one son, Donald Gunn and his wife, Barbara of Grants; one sister, Lottie Abeita of Isleta; four grandchildren, Jeffrey Gunn of Albuquerque, David Gunn of New Laguna, Christina Gunn of Grants, and Yvonne Benschop of California; five great-grandchildren, Elaine, Elizabeth and Andrew Gunn of Laguna and Kevin and Amanda Benschop of California; and a sister-in-law, Bennie Milan of Milan, NM; as well as numerous nieces and nephews in New Mexico, California, Texas, Georgia, Idaho, Colorado, and Oregon. Wallace was a native of this area and lived most of his life in the area. He and his wife, Mary operated the Villa de Cubero from 1937-1972. He was active as a member of Lebanon Masonic Lodge in Gallup since 1946, in addition a member of the Scottish Rite Santa Fe Lodge of Perfection, and Ballut Abyad Shrine Temple, as well as being a former member of the Lion's Club. He served as a member of The County School Board for many years, and was instrumental in obtaining funds needed for the building and development of Laguna High School through his lobbying efforts in Washington, DC. He was also a pioneer aviator in the early years of aviation. Visitation will be held Thursday, from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., at Grants Mortuary Chapel. Christian and Masonic Funeral services will be held Friday, 10:00 a.m., at Grants Mortuary Chapel with Fr. Emeric Nordmeyer O.F.M. officiating. Graveside services will follow at Fairview Memorial Park in Albuquerque and are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Pallbearers will be Jeffrey Gunn, David Gunn, Paul Milan, Jake Abraham, Hans Gottlieb, and Ricky Abeita. Honorary pallbearers include Joseph Fidel, Frank Holmberg, Lawrence Peterson, Gerald Friedman, Joe Cronk and Frank Canfield. Hamm -- On Wednesday, October 28, 1998, Zona Mae Hamm moved to her new home in heaven. She devoted her life to building her heavenly home and will join the only man she ever loved, her husband, Malcolm. She will also be reunited with beloved family members, Anna, Maxine, Vincil, Bernice, Alfred, and Billy. She will be missed by her daughter, Cheryl; and granddaughter, Laurel; her son, Scott; and grandchildren, Jessica and Jeffrey; her brother, Guy (Bud Swank) and wife, Mary (her sister in her heart); niece, Traci and family, Kraig, Noah, Jenna; and nephew, Gary; and a special cousin and his wife, Buddy and Ausma Burke. She also had many dear friends that brought her great comfort. In lieu of flowers, the family recommends enjoying all the good that life has to offer, and appreciate the people you hold dear. Lente -- Mr. Frank Lente, 71, a resident of Los Lunas, NM, passed away peacefully at home in the arms of his loving family on October 29, 1998. Mr. Lente is survived by four daughters, Lorraine Leos, Virginia Pino and husband, Manuel, Elenore Torres and Loretta Torres; two sons, Tommy Lente and wife, Loretta and Michael Lente and wife, Sylvia; three sisters, Ramona Diaz, Carol Perez and Mary Lente; 35 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. Mr. Lente was a member of the Catholic Church. A Rosary will be recited Friday evening, 7:00 p.m., at San Antonio Catholic Church in Los Lunas on Los Lentes Road. Visitation will be at the church after 6:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, 10:00 a.m., at San Antonio Church with final visitation at the church after 9:30 a.m. Father Rick Zerwas, Celebrant.
