Freccero -- Alma Ferro Ulrich Freccero, a resident of Albuquerque for nine years and a loving and devoted mother and grandmother, passed away on Saturday, August 29, 1998, after a brief illness. Alma is survived by her children and their spouses, Diane L. and Fredrick C. Partington of Mt. Vernon, WA, Michael P. and Barbara Ulrich of Saratoga, CA, John P. and Lisa Ulrich of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Christopher Jones, David Jones Partington, Nicole Ulrich, Aaron Ulrich, Renee and Matthew J. Ulrich; great-grandchildren, Angela, Kristen and Chris Jones Jr. of North Carolina. She was preceded in death by Mr. Ulrich in 1956, and Mr. Freccero in 1977, and a loving grandson Patrick"Steve" Partington in 1997. She was born on December 5, 1912, to Pietro and Bianca Ferro, in Colma, CA. In 1938, she married Jack F. Ulrich and subsequently moved to San Jose, CA where her three children were born. In 1964, Alma Married Frank L. Freccero and moved to Alameda, CA. Alma enjoyed many activities and was active in a number of social and volunteer groups throughout her life. She particularly enjoyed her"family" which includes many relatives and special friends who shared part of her life journey through the years. She will be remembered as"Noni" by her grandchildren who will always cherish her deep devotion to them. Rosary will be recited by the family on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. at French Mortuary, Wyoming Blvd, Chapel, 7121 Wyoming Blvd, NE. Graveside services will be Friday at 2:00 p.m. at St. Joseph Cemetery, 2650 Church Lane, San Pablo, CA. Garcia -- Sabino R. Garcia, 92, died Saturday, August 29, 1998, in Albuquerque. He was born June 14, 1906, in Buena Vista, NM to Sabino and Carlota Garcia. He is survived by daughters, Gloria Gamberale and husband Bill, Emily Gonzales and husband, Max, Catherine"Katy" Salinas, and Edward P."Sonny" Garcia and wife, Shirley; two brothers, Tomas and Samuel; one sister, Floripa; 22 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren; and many nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 70 years, Roberta; three daughters, Dola Ana, Dora Mae, and Deanna Mary; brothers, Juan and Simon; sisters, Lena Pablita and Eufemia. Mr. Garcia was a boxer in his youth and was a life member of the International Brotherhood of Painters and Allied Trades. He was a gentle and kind man with a warm smile for all and a good sense of humor. The Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday in the Chapel of Fitzgerald and Son Funeral Directors, 3113 Carlisle NE. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 9:00 a.m. Wednesday at Queen of Heaven Catholic Church Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery with grandchildren Chris, David, Jimmy, Greg, James and Salvador serving as Pallbearers. Gustafson -- Commander Karl W. Gustafson Sr., 86, a resident of Albuquerque since 1952, died Monday, August 31, 1998. A native of West Virginia, he is survived by his wife, Marjorie of the family home; sons, Karl W. Gustafson Jr. and his wife, Wendy and Eric C. Gustafson and his wife, Carolyn, both of Albuquerque; daughter, Karin H. Davidson and her husband, Jon of Las Cruces; step-children, Dr. James E. Short and his wife, Cherie of Oklahoma City, OK, Thomas C. Short and his wife, DyAnne of Los Alamos, Linda L. Cobb and her husband, Larry of Albuquerque, and Bill G. Short and his wife, Linda of California; 12 grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Mrs. Anita White. Mr. Gustafson was preceded in death by brother, John A. Gustafson killed in action during WWII; parents, Swan in 1937 and Lephia in 1975; wife, Ruth G. Gustafson in 1969. Karl was associated with the Masons in West Virginia and he retired in 1965 from the U.S. Navy after 30 years of service. His naval career included service aboard the USS St. Louis. Upon retirement he worked as a field manager for Eberline Instrument Corp. Mr. Gustafson enjoyed the outdoors, including fishing and gardening. He was a member of the Holy Cross Lutheran Church. Services will be held Friday, 10:00 a.m., at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 6901 Wyoming Blvd. NE, with David Hartenburger officiating with the assistance of Charlie Price. Interment of cremains will take place at Santa Fe National Cemetery, Santa Fe, NM. Hallett -- Harriet Arline Hallett, age 96, passed away Thursday, August 27, 1998 in her home at Manzano Del Sol. The daughter of the late Guy E. and Fossie Hallett, she is survived by nieces, Barbara Baker of Wichita, KS, Nancy Cain of Taos, NM and Janet Robson of Jupiter Island, FL. Born December 31, 1901 in Rush County, KS, she attended schools there in Hutchinson, KS and Washburn University in Topeka, KS. She went to Elsworth, KS to teach high school math, and in 1927, became a Missionary in Turkey and Greece, teaching math in girls schools in Adana, Turkey and at Anatolia girls school in Saloniki, Greece. She returned to the United States in 1933 and became a Social Case worker in Wichita, KS. In 1941, she came to New Mexico after receiving her Maters degree in Social Work from the University of Denver. She was District Director of Welfare in Carlsbad and Roswell. In 1944, she came to Albuquerque, taking a position as a Child Welfare worker at the Family and Childrens Services Headquarters, Bernalillo County, retiring in 1969 after 25 years of services. Quite active in the First Congregational Church, she helped plan and open Manzano Del Sol and became a resident there in 1983. Memorial services were held Sunday, August 30, 3:30 p.m., at Manzano Del Sol. In lieu of flowers, send memorial donations to Manzano Del Sol, First Congregational Church or Family Hospice. Husted -- Josephine Boxhorn Husted, 78, died Sunday, August 30, 1998. She is survived by daughters, Margaret Ann Whittaker and her husband, Robert of Albuquerque and Rosemary Maute of Riyadh, KSA; sons, William Boxhorn of Albuquerque and Richard Boxhorn and his wife, Diane of Williamsville, NY; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; brother, Richard Cunningham of Middle Port, NY; and sister, Maylou Connors of Cheektowaga, NY. Lucero -- David R. Lucero (aka) David Duck, 49, a resident of the Albuquerque area since 1972, died Sunday, August 30, 1998. He is survived by his father, Rafael F. Lucero of Brighton, CO; four sisters, Irene Torres and husband, John, Senaida Sean, all of Ft. Lupton, CO, Mary O. Montoya of Commerce City, CO, and Sally Garrett and husband, Chuck of Thornton, CO; five brothers, Henry Lucero and wife, Stella of California, Ralph Lucero and wife, Michelle of Brighton, CO, Manuel Lucero and wife, Rose, James Lucero, all of Thornton, CO, William Lucero of Aurora, CO; partner, S. Craig Tays of Albuquerque; very close friends, Kate Bradshaw and Sydney Eusepi, both of Albuquerque, and Alix Carilli of La Luz, NM; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Tomasita Lucero; and brothers, Guadalupe Lucero and Fred Chavez. Mr. Lucero was a US Army Veteran of the Vietnam War, where he served as a medic and received the Purple Heart. He was an artist, carpenter, musician, gardener, and was instrumental in the restoration of Madrid, NM. Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, 12:00 noon, at San Felipe de Neri Catholic Church, 2005 Plaza NW, with Fr. Leo Lucero, Celebrant. A memorial tribute following the Mass will be celebrated in the park in Madrid, NM at 4:00 p.m. Cremation will follow the services and interment of cremains will take place in Brighton, CO.
