York -- Lillian York, 61, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, died Wednesday, August 12, 1998. She is survived by her husband, Lenard York of Albuquerque; daughters, Cathy Goggins and husband, Mel of Houston, TX and Valary Candelaria and husband, James of Albuquerque; sons, Charles Lopez and wife, Theresa of Albuquerque, Richard Stenberg of Minneapolis, MN and Paul Stenberg and wife, Colleen of Ft. Worth, TX; nine grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; sisters, Louisa Griego and husband, Alfred and Pat Spoltore; brothers, Abie Silva and wife, Marylou and Roy Silva, all of Albuquerque; and many other relatives and friends. Services will be held Saturday, 11:00 a.m., at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel, 1111 University Blvd. NE, with Deacon Bob Lewis officiating. Cremation will take place at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul NE following the services. Bailey -- Gloria Louise Bailey, born August 6, 1921, in Grandview, Texas, passed away on her 77th birthday, August 6, 1998, in Rio Rancho, where she had lived since 1987. She was married 56 years to Arthur Bailey Jr., who survived her, along with her daughter, Sylvia Louise Farrow; and her son, Arthur Bailey III, both of Santa Fe. She is also survived by her grandson, Clay Farrow of Phoenix, AZ; her granddaughter, Leah Bailey; her grandson, Ryan Bailey, both of Santa Fe; and one brother, Bill Bowles of Ft. Worth, TX. Mrs. Bailey was a dedicated wife and mother, and served as President of the Lady Elk's Chapter, Levington Park, MD. In her loving memory, a memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m., Friday, August 14, 1998 at the United Methodist Church of Rio Rancho and the cremains will be interred at the National Cemetery, Santa Fe. Chavez -- Mrs. Eleanor Chavez died Wednesday in Albuquerque at the age of 98. Mrs. Chavez was a member of the St. Bernadette Catholic Church and lived at the Resolana Apartments. She is survived by her sons, Sol Chavez and wife, Sydney, Eliseo"Cheo" Chavez and wife, Helen, and Charlie Chavez and wife, Barbara; daughters, Mary Gallegos, and Alice Maldonado and husband, Max, all of Albuquerque, NM; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Funeral Services for Mrs. Chavez will be held on Friday at the St. Bernadette Catholic Church where the Mass will be celebrated at 9:00 a.m. Burial will follow at the Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jerry Gallegos, Gabriel Maldonado, Larry Chavez, Steven Chavez, David Moya and Chris Chavez. Visitation for Mrs. Chavez will be held on Thursday from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. in the mortuary chapel. A Rosary will be recited on Thursday evening at 8:00 p.m. at the St. Bernadette Church. Howard -- Beatrice Lotz Howard, 89, of 114 Rodaline Ave., Lewes, Delaware, died peacefully on Monday, August 10, 1998. Mrs. Howard practiced nursing in Philadelphia following graduation from Osteopathic Hospital. She lived in Wilmington, DE over 20 years where she was active in many organizations. She had lived in Lewes, DE for the past 30 years. Mrs. Howard was a member of the Lewes Presbyterian Church, Lewes Historical Society, and Beebe Hospital Auxiliary. She was the daughter of the late Harry and Annie Fleck of Sinking Valley, PA. Her husband, John W. Howard, MD, died in 1989. She is survived by her son, J. Wade Howard of Haverford, PA; and daughters, Pauline Gerstle of Albuquerque and Elizabeth Crosbie of South Hamilton, MA; eight grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life service will be held on September 26, 2:00 p.m., at the Lewes Presbyterian Church, Kings Highway, Lewes, Delaware. No flowers, please. Memorial contributions should be made to the Lewes Presbyterian Church or Beebe Medical Center School of Nursing, Lewes, DE 19958.
