Plummer -- Vera Sophia Plummer, 78, a resident of Rio Rancho for the past five years, coming here from Hilton Head, South Carolina, passed away on Tuesday, September 1, 1998. Vera was born January 24, 1920, the daughter of Bertin and Emily Johanson Swanson in Chicago, IL. Vera was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church, a member of the choir, and played the piano for the church choir. Vera is survived by her husband, Robert; three children, Robert"Ted" S. Plummer Jr., Janice Leigh Dick, and Sonja Sophia Plummer, all of Rio Rancho; one brother, Clifford Bertin Swanson of Poway, CA; four grandchildren, Karin Carlson Plummer, James Stedman Plummer, Michael John Dick, and Geoffrey Robert Dick. Services for Vera will be Saturday, September 5, 1998, 10:00 a.m., at Calvary Lutheran Church, Unser and Abrazo, Rio Rancho, with the Rev. Donald Neidigk officiating. Romero -- Alex J. Romero, 24, devoted and beloved husband, father, son, and brother, was called home to be with our Lord on Tuesday, September 1, 1998. Alex was born in Albuquerque and resided in Alamogordo, NM. He is survived by his loving wife, Claudia; sons, Andrew Romero, Julian Mendoza; parents, Ronald and Theresa Romero; brothers, Jerry, Ronald Jr., Joseph, Issac; sister, Theresa Marie; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. He was a very family-oriented man who loved playing softball, baseball, and wrestling. Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, September 4 at Sears Alamogordo Funeral Home. Strickland -- Jimmy Strickland, 30, passed away September 2, 1998 in Albuquerque. He graduated from Los Lunas High School. He loved fishing and spending time with his family and friends. Survivors include wife of eight years, Erica; parents, James L. and Annette E. Strickland of Albuquerque; father and mother-in-law, Howard and Sharon Schindler of Albuquerque; mother and father-in-law, Gregory and Marsha Candela of Los Lunas; grandparents, Barbara A. Kaiser of Oregon, Evelyn Hausman of New Jersey and Warren and Jan Candela of Nevada; sister, Evonne Patterson of Albuquerque; sister-in-law, Mary Lane of Albuquerque; brother-in-law, David Schindler of Albuquerque; nephews, Jesse Patterson and K.J. Branch, both of Albuquerque; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and many special friends. Preceded in death by two sisters, Sherry and Cathy Strickland. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 5, 1998 at the Palm Chapel at Strong-Thorne Mortuary. White -- T.B. White, age 97, passed away in Bradenton, Florida on September 3, 1998. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Doris and Robert Cope of Brandenton; one grandson, Don Combs of Albuquerque; one granddaughter, Linda Ferraro of Grants, NM; and three great-granddaughters, Leslie and Erin Combs of Albuquerque and Cristina Ferraro of Grants. Mr. White retired from the NM State Highway Department as Chief Highway Engineer in 1966, where he had worked for 40 years. During his career, he worked on the first oiled road in New Mexico and as Chief Highway Engineer during the construction of the Rio Grande Gorge bridge near Taos, and the construction of the interstate and the"Big-I" in Albuquerque. Zamora -- Ernest Zamora Jr., 21, passed away Tuesday, September 1, 1998 in Albuquerque. He was born November 18, 1976 to Ernest and Beatrice (Gonzales) Zamora Sr. in Socorro, NM. He is survived by his brother, Louis Luke Zamora of Luis Lopez, NM; sisters, Diana Montoya of San Antonio, NM and Laura Maslen of Albuquerque; parents, Ernest and Beatrice Zamora Sr. of Luis Lopez, NM; grandmother, Lillie Gonzales of Socorro, NM; and other relatives and friends. Rosary was recited Friday, September 4, 7:00 p.m., at San Miguel Catholic Church in Socorro, NM. Funeral Mass was celebrated Saturday, September 5, 9:30 a.m., at San Miguel with Father Jacob Joeger, OP, as Celebrant. Interment was in Luis Lopez Cemetery. Baca -- Sigfredo Baca passed away Wednesday, August 3rd. He is survived by his children, Loyda Pogorelc and husband, Frank from Ontario, California, Sylvia Aguilar and husband, Raymond from Fountain Valley, CA, Roland Baca of Albuquerque, Sigfredo Baca Jr. and wife, Dolores form LaVerne, CA, Mary Garcia and husband, Arsenio of Albuquerque, Herman Baca and wife, Theresa of Albuquerque, Frank Baca and Patsy of Albuquerque, Eileen Gallegos and husband, Leo of Albuquerque; and daughter-in-law, Dorothy Baca. Also surviving are 17 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by his wife, Fulgencia Baca; and sons, Ted and Danny Baca; and grandsons, Danny and Richard Baca. Blanchette -- Rose T. Blanchette, 81, a resident of Albuquerque since 1959, died Tuesday, September 1, 1998. She is survived by her sister, Marion Cook of Cambridge, MA; and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Blanchette was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Byzantine Rite Catholic Church. She was also a member of the Cactus Club, Handwriting Analysis Club, and Sandia Civitan Club. Dardanes -- Katherine Dardanes, 74, beloved mother and grandmother passed on to the loving arms of the Lord on Monday morning, August 31, 1998. The daughter of the late George and Ruth Dardanes was born on a ranch in Trinchera, NM, on Sunday, September 30, 1923. She was a resident of Raton, NM from 1951 to 1993, where she was involved in public service work. Mrs. Dardanes was a dedicated democrat and actively campaigned for several governors, senators, and local candidates. She worked as a payroll clerk at the State Capitol under Governor Burrough's term and was secretary to Judge Frederici. She was manager to the Motor Vehicle Department for 14 years. Mrs. Dardanes was involved in the First Baptist Church and spent her last healthy years caring for her family and the elderly. Due to illness, she moved to Albuquerque in 1993 to be closer to her family. She always had a kind word for everyone. She will be greatly missed by her daughters and grandchildren. Katherine is survived by her daughters, Penny M. Martinez, Evangeline R. Vigil, and Cecieia I. Dardanes-Lambert and husband, Ted; and grandchildren, Rachel L. Martinez, Monica L. Martinez, and Anthony R. Martinez. Services were held Thursday, September 3, 1998, 2:00 p.m. at French Mortuary - Lomas Blvd. Chapel, 10500 Lomas NE, with Pastor Rick Donaho officiating.
