J.F. loved coaching, encouraging, and developing many boys on numerous basketball teams and tournaments, such as "Hoop-It-Up", Gus Macker, AYBL, BCI, and AAU. For many years, J.F.'s focus in life was his career, but Carlos's birth brought many joys to his life. J.F. was able to pass down his love of sports, especially basketball, to his son. J.F. spent many hours coaching and cheering Carlos' teams in both basketball and soccer with Angie's support who was a willing transportation driver to games near and far. Angie organized the moms and kids when J.F. was gone on numerous business trips. J. F. usually made it home for Carlos' games.
