Obituary for Gerdes

Delila C. Gerdes, born to parents Clyda Mae and Charles M. Crocker on January 8, 1915, in Corpus Christi, Texas died Monday in Albuquerque. She is survived by her son, Dick Gerdes of Las Vegas, Nevada, and her two grandchildren, Nicole and Jeffery Gerdes, both of Albuquerque. Delila outlived six brothers and sisters, all of whom lived in the Corpus Christi area. After growing up and marrying Hubert C. Gerdes in Corpus Christi, Delila had two sons, Tony (deceased) and Dick, both born in the same city. Mr. Gerdes worked in the oil business and was eventually transferred to Calgary, Canada, where the family lived until his death in 1963. As a widow, Delila spent the rest of her life living in Corpus Christi, Lawrence, Kansas, and finally, Albuquerque. She spent the last four years living comfortably at the Valle Norte Caring Center, where she interacted happily with the management and staff.
