Obituary for Thompson

Arthur A. Thompson, 65, passed away on Friday, July 20, 2001. Art worked in Farmington, Belen, Socorro, Gallup, and Santa Fe with Mountain Bell for 30 years. Later, he retired in 1985 as an upper-level Manager. He was a well-known area businessman, owning and operating Arts Little Wheels Auto Sales for over 16 years. Art proudly served his country in the US Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict. His parents, Paul and Dorothy Thompson; one brother, Richard; and one grandson, Jacob Jojola, preceded him in death. Arthur is survived by his wife of 46 years, Mary of the family home in Rio Communities; his three children, Charlene Coplen and her husband, Bob of Belen; Nick and his wife, Melinda of Albuquerque; and Julie Jojola and her husband, Giovanni of Belen; seven grandchildren; two sisters, Artis Thompson of Nogalis, AZ; and Dorene Hailey and her husband, Bob of Costa Mesa, CA; two brothers, Pat and his wife, Liz of Aurora, CO; and Mike and his wife, Aggie of Gallup, NM. He is also survived by his many loving nieces and nephews. A Visitation will be held Tuesday, 9:30 a.m.-10:00 a.m. at Romero Funeral Home Chapel with a Funeral Service following at 10:00 a.m. Interment will take place at Terrace Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers will be his son Nick; his two son-in-laws, Bob Coplen and Giovanni Jojola; his two grandsons, Bryan Chambers and Daniel Jojola; Sam Trujillo; Luther Reed; and Jim Coates. Romero Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
