Eduardo "Eddie" Castaneda, 63, died Monday, July 16, 2001 in New Orleans, LA. He was born August 8, 1937 to Nicholas and Josefa (Montez) Castaneda in Gila Bend, AZ. Mr. Castaneda has been a resident of Socorro, NM since 1965 where he was a teacher for 31 years in the Socorro School System. He was head football coach for 17 years. He was a member of the Socorro Men's Golf Assoc. and the New Mexico Coaches Assoc. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Naomi (Perea) Castaneda of their home in Socorro; son, Dominic A. Castaneda of Socorro; daughter, Edith L. Castaneda of Denver, CO; brother, Arthur Castaneda of Phoenix, AZ, Alonzo Castaneda of Tucson, AZ and Nick Castaneda of Clifton, AZ; a sister, Vera Campbell of Alpine, AZ; and other relatives and many friends. Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 22, 2001 at at 7:00 p.m. at San Miguel Catholic Church in Socorro. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, July 23, 2001 at 8:00 a.m. at San Miguel with Father Edward Domme as Celebrant. Interment will be on Monday, July 23, 2001 at 1:00 p.m. at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. Arrangements by Steadman-Hall Funeral, 309 Garfield, Socorro, NM.
