Obituary for Carson

Gordon "Tuffy" William Carson passed away on October 30, 2001 in Hobbs, New Mexico. He attended school in Jal and Artesia. He was in the entertainment business in Hobbs, Lovington, San Andres Island Columbia and Yugoslavia. He enjoyed golf, cards politics and was the founder of Hobbs Special Olympics Bowling. Tuffy was a member of Elks in Artesia, Eagles Lodge and Moose Lodge, American Legion, New Mexico Retail Liquors Association and Hobbs Chamber of Commerce. Funeral Services for Mr. Carson will be Saturday, November 3, 2001 at Bethel Baptist Church in Hobbs, New Mexico at 10:00 a.m. with interment to follow at Prairie Haven Cemetery under the direction of Griffin Funeral Home. Mr. Carson is survived by a long time companion, Iris Matthews of Hobbs, New Mexico; two sons, David Carson of Fort Worth, Texas and J.J. Jones of San Antonio, Texas; four daughters, Alice Faye Landers of Germany, Kandy Lawson of Edmond, Oklahoma, Kimberly Norris and Kelly Penny of Grapevine, Texas; ten grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister. Memorials may be made to Baptist Children's Home, P.O. Box 629, Portales, New Mexico 88130.
