Obituary for Bergquist

John W. Bergquist, 84, a longtime resident of Albuquerque, died Wednesday, October 24, 2001. He is survived by his wife, Jayne Bergquist; daughters, Lesley Schultz and husband, Andrew, Deborah Hudgins and Jonelle Phelps and husband, Clifford; five grandchildren, Ashley Schultz, Devon and Chad Hudgins, and Alexandra and Jordan Phelps; and brother, Irving Bergquist, all of Albuquerque. Mr. Bergquist was a graduate of Albuquerque High School, the University of New Mexico and attended Harvard University. He achieved the rank of Lieutenant Commander in the U.S. Navy and later worked for the Veterans Administration. Mr. Bergquist was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, also Ducks Unlimited and the American Legion Post 49. John loved the great outdoors, including fishing, hunting and gardening. One of his passions was to take trips and explore the world. He will be missed greatly by family and friends. John will be in our hearts forever. Private Services will take place at Santa Fe National Cemetery. A reception and celebration of John's life will be held Monday, at 2:30 p.m., at the Schultz residence.
