Obituary for Gutowski

Dr. Roman A. Gutowski, beloved husband and father, passed away peacefully with his family present, Wednesday, October 24, 2001, after a long battle with several illnesses. A native of the state of Michigan, he is a graduate of Cass Technical High School in Detroit. Dr. Gutowski also attended Wayne State University. He received his Doctor of Optometry degree from Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago, IL. Dr. Gutowski practiced his profession in Michigan and New Mexico for many years. He is a veteran of WWII, having served with the U.S. Army Ordinance Department in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater. Dr.Gutowski is survived by his wife, Geraldine, to whom he was married for 42 years; son, Alan and wife, Beverly; daughter, Lynn; his mother-in-law, Dorothy Gilliland. He is also survived by his sisters, Camille Gutowski and Laura Tomaszewski and her family; brothers, Arthur and Anthony Gutowski and their families. He was preceded in death by his parents, Antoni and Marja Gutowski; and his sister, Helena Gutowski. Dr. Gutowski enjoyed spending time with his family. He also enjoyed music, reading, studying languages, traveling and exercise. Services will be held Monday, October 29, 2001, at 10:00 a.m., at French Mortuary, Wyoming Blvd. Chapel, 7121 Wyoming Blvd. NE. Interment will follow at 12:30 p.m., at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Friends may visit French Mortuary, 7121 Wyoming Blvd. NE, Sunday, October 28, 2001, 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
