Elsie A. Chavez, 84, went home to be with the Lord on October 24, 2001. Elsie was born on June 5, 1917 in Albuquerque, NM. She is preceded in death by her husband, Dino Chavez; and grandson, Mark Chavez. She was a past president of the North Valley Senior Citizens. She is survived by one son, Lolo Chavez and wife, Rita; two daughters, Phyllis Villecas and Lydia Knauber; two brothers, Richard Armijo and wife, Dina and Mike Armijo; one sister, Reyna Salazar and husband, Frank; two granddaughters, Marlene Chavez and Kendall Knauber; two great-grandchildren, Darlene Chavez and Joshua Joseph Chavez. Elsie will be deeply missed by her loving family. A Rosary will be recited Friday, October 26, 2001 at 7:00 p.m. in the 8th Street Chapel of Garcia Mortuary. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, October 27, 2001 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Frank Salazar, Rudy Duran, Dan Salazar, Ray Robert Sanchez, Randy Salazar and Greg Armijo. Services are in the care of Garcia Mortuary 717 Stover Ave. SW 243-5222.
