Obituary for Teague

Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Friday October 12, 2001

Virginia Winn Hewitt Teague was born September 19, 1912. Ginny had a mischievous sense of humor to the end. She thoroughly enjoyed people, often diving well beneath the surface to form real connections. Friends and family were always welcome in her home and were treated to scrumptious meals prepared with loving hands. She found joy in travel, bridge, interior design, flower arranging, reading, and long walks on the beach and in the mountains. She never quit growing and learning and had a genuine zest for life. We send our love as you journey in God's lands. Her parents were Leonard H. Hewitt and Agnes Winn Hewitt. They had five children: Thelma, Mildred, Grace (Bowden), Virginia, and Leonard Jr. She grew up in Portsmouth, New Hampshire on the Piscataqua River. After graduating as valedictorian of her class, she worked for Granite State Insurance. She married George Deming Parker (a dentist) in 1945. They had two children: Janet and Russell Newell. After moving to Monte Vista, Colorado in 1951, Virginia started her own insurance agency. Later, she and her family moved to Denver, Colorado. After her husband's death in 1965, she moved back to Portsmouth, New Hampshire. In 1972, she married Dr. Louis C. Theobald in Exeter, New Hampshire where she did volunteer work at the Exeter Hospital. Upon Dr. Theobald's retirement in the early 1980s, they moved to Jensen Beach, Florida. He died in 1983 following problems with Alzheimer's. As fate would have it, a few years later Virginia married her high school sweetheart at a ceremony in Florida. She and Julian (Teague) enjoyed traveling and summers in their second home in Boone, North Carolina. After his death in 1996, she moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico to be near her daughter. She died on October 7, 2001 of Parkinson's complications at the age of 89. She is preceded in death by her parents and siblings. She is survived by her children and two grandchildren; Ian Christopher Parker and Elise Christine Parker of Fort Collins, Colorado. Friends will gather at her home in loving celebration of her life on Saturday, October 13, 2001. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the American Parkinson's Disease Association, 1250 Hylan Blvd., Staten Island, NY, 10305. www.aspenfuneral.com
