Obituary for Larkin

Harold V. Larkin, a forty-nine year resident of New Mexico, died March 29, 2001 in Palm Desert, Ca. Born December 5. 1922 in Providence R.I. He married Genevieve in 1945, and they began a 56-year journey together. After learning to fly in the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1940, he served in the US Army Air Corps during WWII in India, Burma and China. He earned a Purple Heart, a Distinguished Flying Cross and the Silver Star. Hal earned a B.S. degree in Architectural Engineering from the University of New Mexico and had a 30-year career in general contracting, retiring as Sr. Vice President of a local company. Over the years, he was active in many charities, a member of The Retired Officers Association and Sigma Tau Honorary Fraternity. Hal is survived by his wife, Gen, of 56 years; sister, Marie Hayes of West Yarmouth, Mass; daughters, Jane of Kona Hawaii, Christine of Anaheim, California, Valerie of St. Louis, Mo; and son, Peter of Albuquerque. There will be a Memorial Service at 10:00 a.m. at Queen of Heaven Catholic Church on Monday, April 9, 2001. Burial will be at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. The family suggests donations to a charity of choice.
