Obituary for Herndon

Dorine M. Herndon, a longtime resident of Albuquerque, died Friday, April 6, 2001 of Parkinson's complications. She was born in Mangum, OK on September 22, 1923 and moved to Albuquerque in 1952. Dorine was preceded in death by her husband, Charles D. Herndon, Albuquerque aviation pioneer, daughter, Virginia Ann Rubemeir, son, Donald, and mother Jessie Thrower and father Clive Thrower. She is lovingly survived by her children: daughters, Kathy and husband, Gene Pyell, Margaret and husband, Alan Wilfehrt, Mary Kuehn, and Amber Herndon; sons, Charles Michael Herndon and wife, Louann Feldmann, Phil Herndon and Ben Montoya, Tim Herndon and wife, Connie, Tom Herndon, Paul and wife, Lynne Herndon. Dorine was proud of all her grandchildren, Aaron and wife, Janice Jaramillo, Helen Wilfehrt, Kerry Jaramillo and husband, Tim Tessendorf, Heather and husband, Conrad Mulligan, Kahri, Jessica and husband, Alex Sirotin, Liesl Herndon, Nicole Nicholas, Lindsay Herndon-Ortega, Rachel Herndon, Alison Herndon-Ortega, Megan Herndon, Lucas Herndon, Jamie Kuehn, and Daniel Kuehn. Her great-grandchildren are Sebastian, Brittany, and Natalie. She is also survived by her brothers, David and wife, Stella, and Gilbert and wife, Jackie Thrower. Dorine will be remembered for her compassion, her interest in acquiring knowledge and her very quick and smart wit. People loved her immediately. Dorine was a tiny woman with a great heart. She fought Parkinson's disease bravely for many years. We wish to thank Rita New and T.J., the nursing staff at Montebello, Vista Care Hospice and her doctors and nurses at Lovelace Medical Center. Rosary was recited Sunday, April 8, 2001. Funeral Mass at Gate of Heaven Chapel, April 9, 2001, 10:00 a.m. with interment to follow. Pallbearers will be Eugene Pyell, Alan Wilfehrt, Ben Montoya, Tim Tessendorf, Ron Stewart, Aaron Jaramillo. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to any Parkinson's Foundation of your choice.
