Edward J. Vavro, age 83, a long time resident of Albuquerque died January 7, 2001 unexpectedly at his home. He was retired from Sandia Lab, and had been a member of St. Bernadette Catholic Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Eleanor. He is survived by sisters, Mary Ann Eccles, Phyllis Vavro; brothers, Don Vavro, Robert Vavro, all of Michigan. Visitation will be held Sunday afternoon at the funeral home from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated 9:00 a.m. Monday at St. Bernadette Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Sandia Memory Gardens. Memorial Fraternal Rites will be conducted 10:00 a.m. January 17, 2001 at Sandia Mountain Lodge #72 A.F. & A.M., 3400 Aztec NE. Memorials should be made to the Shrine Hospital for Children. Fitzgerald and Son Funeral Directors, 3113 Carlisle NE, are in charge of arrangements.
