Obituary for Fields

Betty Ree Fields, age 80, passed away early in the morning on November 4, 2001. Born January 4, 1921, in Goshen, Utah, she was the tenth of eleven children born to Hyrum Rasmus and Mette Katrine(Maggie) Hansen. Educated in Goshen elementary schools, she attended high school in Payson, Utah, graduating in 1939. She married Robert C. Fields of Eureka, Utah, on June 10, 1939, they were divorced in 1946. She attended Stevens/Henagar Business College, and worked in Salt Lake City, Utah, as a secretary and bookkeeper for a wool brokerage firm. She later became an analyst for Businees Men's Assurance Company in Salt Lake City and, subsequently, Kansas City, Missouri. At retirement in 1982, she moved to Albuquerque, where she worked as a volunteer for the Albuquerque Convention Bureau at the Albuquerque Sunport until last July. An avid bridge player, she also enjoyed traveling. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Merriam F. and Robert L. Bleyl, of Placitas, NM; four grandchildren, Erik Bleyl of Richmond, Virginia, Steven Bleyl of Osaka, Japan, Heidi Kay of Tucson, Arizona, and Katrine Bleyl of McLean, Virginia; nine great-grandchildren; two brothers, Dr. James L. Hansen of McAllen, Texas, and Dr. Richard M. Hansen of Fort Collins, Colorado; and 19 nieces and nephews. Funeral arrangements have been made by Strong-Thorne Mortuary 1100 Coal Ave SE. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 8, 2001 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 11750 San Victorio, NE, Albuquerque, NM. Burial will be at 3:00 p.m., Friday, November 9, 2001 in the family plot at the Goshen, Utah, Cemetery. Strong-Thorne Mortuary is entrusted to the care of Betty.
