Obituary for Lucero

Josephine Lucero, 77, beloved and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and sister was called home to be with the Lord our Savior, Sunday, November 4, 2001. Josephine was born in Cuba, NM to the late Edwardo and Genara De La O; she was a resident of Canon de Jemez; a parishioner of Our Lady of Guadalupe; a community leader, some would consider her a pillar of the community because of her involvement with the community; she worked for the Sandoval County, and the Jemez Valley School District. Josephine will always be remembered as being devoted to her church and community. She is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Antonio Lucero of the family home; her three children, Orlando Lucero and wife Andrea, Fred Lucero and wife Rita, and Prexie Lucero all of Canon; 11 grandchildren, Daniel, Yolanda, Anjelica, Gabriel, Chris and wife Frances, Jessica Lucero, Monica Canales and husband Francisco (Kiko), Vincent Encinias, Marina Encinias, Nick Burke and Josephina Burke; seven great-grandchildren, Victoria, Chris Jr., Cassandra, Savannah, and Alyssa Lucero, Rosalia, and Azucena Canales. Other survivors include, one brother, Frank De La O of California; five sisters, Eursinia Cordova of Cuba, NM, Edwina Montoya, Emma De La O both of Albuquerque, Sister Ancila and Rose Gutierrez both of California; numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives. She will be greatly missed by her loving family and by those who knew and loved her. Visitations will be today from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Canon, where the Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. this evening. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. also at the church. Interment will follow at the Canon Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Christopher Lucero, Daniel Lucero, Gabriel Lucero, Nicholas Burke, Francisco Canales, Frank De La O Jr., and Amadeo De La O. Honorary bearers will be Lee Montoya, Mariano Lucero, Jr., and Antonio De La O. Funeral services are entrusted to Alameda Mortuary, 9420 Fourth Street NW, 898-3160.
