Obituary for Guardian

Lucy D. Guardian, 77, passed away peacefully while surrounded by her family at an Albuquerque Hospital on Thursday, February 15, 2001. She is a member of the Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church. She was the owner and operator of the El Charo Café in Belen for many years. She is preceded in death by her husband, Jose in 1985, two grandchildren, Michelle Guardian in 2000 and Connie T. Esquibel in 1965 and her sister, Juanita Reza. Lucy is survived by two daughters, Clara R. Esquibel and her loving companion, Joseph Montoya; and Rebecca A. Miller and her husband, Joe; two sons, Joseph L. and his loving companion, Toni Garcia, all from Belen and Sammy and his wife, Ester of Zuni, NM. She is also survived by her very special grandson, Mark and his wife, Angie of Veguita, NM; and her loving God-son, Reyes A. Guardian; 14 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren, two sisters, Maria Jesus Mares and Theresa Liggins, both of El Paso, TX; and by her many loving nieces and nephews. A Viewing will be held on Friday, 5:30 p.m. at Romero Funeral Home followed by a Rosary at 6:00 p.m. with Manuel Gallegos officiating. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church with Interment in the Parish Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Lawrence Trujillo, Alvin Rael, Sr., Joe Dale Silva, Lawrence Rael, Alvin Rael, Jr., Joe Miller, Sammy Guardian, and Danny Bernal. Romero Funeral Home, Belen, NM
