Obituary for Smithart

"Dwelling in the shelter of the Almighty." Bobby Allen Smithart, 69, passed away Thursday, February 1, 2001. A loving husband, father, grandfather, friend, mentor, and man of God, he served both country and neighbor in the U.S. Navy from 1949-1953 and as a Police Officer from 1954-1957 in Dallas, Texas. He remained active in his contributions to the Church by his participation at Crossroads Church of the Nazarene in Moriarty. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Bertha Ready Smithart, his daughter, De'Anne Stoker, and by his first wife, LaVerne Smithart. He is survived by his wife of twelve years, Laura Smithart of Moriarty; his son, Lindley B. Smithart of Portland, OR; daughter, Deborah Craig and husband, David of Albuquerque, daughter, Michelle McCraw and husband, Clarence of Lewisville, TX, daughter, Theresa S. LaVerne of Albuquerque; son-in-law, Michael Stoker of Los Lunas; and by Laura's children, James Paul Black and wife, Pamela of Cedar Crest, Dana Faye Dawson and husband, Jim of Edgewood, and Sally Ann Martin and husband, David of Sandia Park; as well as ten grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, February 9, 2001 at the Crossroads Church of the Nazarene, 1200 Columbia, Moriarty, NM 87035 (832-4390). Graveside Services will follow at the Santa Fe National Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. Friday afternoon. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Building Fund of Crossroads Church of the Nazarene. Sunrise Society is serving the family of Mr. Smithart. (891-8200)
