Obituary for Satchez

John Satchez, 89, a beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother, was called home to be with the Lord, January 27, 2001. John was born February 7, 1911 in Louisiana. He moved to Albuquerque in 1943. John was a master carpenter and artist. He built many homes in the Albuquerque area. He and Stanley owned their own business, Satchez Brothers Construction Company. John helped with the building of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church on Broadway and Pacific. He also built a bedroom set that was raffled off by the church to help with the building expenses. He also worked for Urban Renewal of Albuquerque before he retired. He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 63 years, Marie Satchez, son, John D. Stachez, Jr., granddaughter, Jennie Marie Lind, brothers, Joseph, Leo, Stanley, and Alverest Satchez, and sister, Lucille Thomas. He is survived by his loving daughters, Frances Salazar, Theresa (Honey) Knevitt and husband, Robert; 14 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. Final Viewing will be held this morning at Garcia Mortuary from 9:00 to 9:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated today at 10:00 a.m. at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, located on the corner of Broadway and Pacific. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Casket Bearers will be Michael Salazar, Dominic Salazar, Tony Lind, Christopher Lind, Lisa Lucero, and Jimmy Ray Satches. Honorary bearers will be Manuel Salazar, Andrew Jaramillo, Carlos Ray Salazar, Joseph Satchez, and Brian Lind. Funeral Services are in the care of Garcia Mortuary, 717 Stover Ave., SW.
