Obituary for Sais

Reuben Sais, a resident of Los Lunas, peacefully passed away while surrounded by my family on Friday, January 26, 2001. I was a veteran who served in the South Pacific and the Philippines Liberation. I served six years in the US Army and ten years in the NM National Guard obtaining the rank of First Lieutenant. I owned and operated Reuben's Appliance and Hardware/Reuben's Sports in Los Lunas for 35 years. After retiring, I worked for RAKS Building Supply for eight years. Bill Holliday and I started the VFW Post 9676 in Los Lunas and I became the First Commander. I was a staunch Republican and a friend to many Democrats. I was elected to the Los Lunas Village Council six times serving a total of 18 years, six of those were served as Mayor Pro-Tem. I am a member of the San Clemente Catholic Church. I was married on January 12, 1946 to Refugia (Cuca) Sanchez of Grants, NM, who was born to Jose G. and Elvira Sanchez, she preceded me in death in 1986. I am survived by my beautiful friend and partner of 12 years, Gloria Ortiz; my beloved daughter, Vera Ann Sais-Apodaca and her husband, Rick of Albuquerque; my granddaughter, Roxanne Tapia of Los Alamos; my grandson, Ron Tapia and his wife, Andrea of Tucson; my four brothers, Arthur and his wife, Beatrice; Eddie and his wife, Mildred; Jerry and his wife, Irene; Sammy and his wife, Pat, all of Los Lunas; my sister, Christine Sanchez and her husband, Emilio of Albuquerque; my two loving aunts, Sara Valenzuela and Stella Phillips; and one uncle, Fred Gallegos. I am also survived by my many loving nieces and nephews and my oldest and dearest friend, Andy Romero. I was very proud of having been a friend to Joe and Lily Tabet, father and mother of my loving Gloria. I would also like to thank all of Gloria's children for accepting me into their loving family: Kenny Trujillo and his wife, Ana, Jimmy Trujillo and his wife, Annette, Michael Trujillo and his wife, Emily, John and his wife, Carolyn, Dino and Bobby Trujillo and Lorraine Martinez. Also, all of my grandchildren, Joe; Julie; Carlos; Clarice; Frankie; Corinna; Christopher; Miguel; Mario; and Max. "Beloved, I am with you always. My strength is your strength. Rest assured that I will guide you through this and every circumstance that may arise." "Your faith in Me is surpassed only by My faith in you, for I created you with your own unique qualities and the ability to overcome any challenge." We are partners, and we are working together each day in creating more love and faith in the world." A Viewing will be held on Monday, 7:00 p.m. followed by a Rosary, 7:30 p.m. at the San Clemente Catholic Church. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, 2:00pm at the San Clemente Church followed by Interment in the San Clemente Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Alfred Sanchez, Gerard Saiz, Chris Sais, Bobby Trujillo, Reyes Sais, Jackie Aragon, Dr. Joseph Aragon, and Sammy Sais.
