Mary Lena Darnold, age 96 and a resident of Albuquerque for 60 years died Sunday, November 25, 2001 in an Espanola hospital following an illness. Mrs. Darnold is survived by six grandchildren, Linda Merren and her husband, Tom, Sandy Rogers and her husband, Brad, Larry Aldoff, Gerald Darnold and his wife, Carol, Balnche Powers, and Colleen Yanez and her husband, Moises; 11 great-grandchildren; ten great-great-grandchildren; and a daughter-in-law, Bertie Donald also survives her. Mrs. Darnold was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Darnold; and her four children, Ray Darnold, June Aldoff, Billy Darnold and Chlorene Powers. A viewing will be held on Tuesday from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Strong-Thorne Mortuary, 1100 Coal Ave SE. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, November 28, 2001 at 3:00 p.m. in the Palm Chapel of Strong-Thorne Mortuary with Rev. Ira Shelton and Rev. Clay Ford officiating. Interment will follow in Fairview Memorial Park Cemetery. Strong-Thorne Mortuary, 1100 Coal Ave SE is in charge of arrangements.
