Obituary for Downs

Robert"Bobby" Downs II, 38, passed away in his sleep on February 10, 2003 at his home in Louisville, KY. Bobby, a native of New Mexico was born in Albuquerque March 23, 1964. Bobby is survived by his fiancee, Mary Lanceta of Louisville, KY; and her daughter, Kelsey, who Bobby cherished. He is also survived by his parents, Dr. Robert and Gayle Downs; a sister, Kelly Lichtenberger and husband, Michael; two nieces, Sara and Rachel Lichtenberger; and one nephew, Jacob Lichtenberger all of Albuquerque. He is also survived by his grandmothers, Evelyn V. Carugno of Albuquerque and Marian McCammon of Seymour, IN; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. An athlete, he excelled in baseball, karate and motocross racing, winning many awards. He was also into bodybuilding and nutrition. He helped his father build a successful business. Bobby was a caring person, had a great sense of humor and had so much love to give to those who were in his life. He was a loving and devoted parent for six years to his fiancee's daughter, Kelsey. A Memorial Service was held in Crothersville, IN on February 15, 2003. Many of his friends and co-workers told stories of a generous man who went out of his way to help those he cared for. Thank you to all of his friends who called to share stories about Bobby. You made us smile, which we needed to do. We are touched that he was loved so much. Bobby, we already miss you so much. There is a void in our family without you. We give thanks to God for surrounding us with his love and comfort during this time and for bringing Mary and Kelsey not only into Bobby's life, but ours. They will forever be a part of our family. Memorial contributions in Bobby's name may be made to First Marion Baptist Church, 7730 W.
