Obituary for Brown

Cleo Duffield Brown, born on January 5, 1911 in Robinson, IL, daughter of Homer and Dora Smith Duffield, died Friday, January 31, 2003 in Albuquerque. She came to Erie, PA in 1916 with her grandmother. She was educated in the Erie public schools and graduated from Central High School in 1929. She graduated from Allegheny College in 1933 and worked for the Pennsylvania Department of Public Assistance in Erie from 1934 to 1940. Cleo married Attorney Roger M. Brown on April 20, 1940 and they moved to Corry, PA in 1941. Roger died in November of 1964. Mrs. Brown taught at Corry Area High School from 1962 to 1973. She retired in 1973 and moved to Erie in 1979. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Erie, as well as the A.A.U.W. Her two sons, Ronald and his wife, JoAnn from Albuquerque and Gregory and his wife, Judy from Boise, ID, survive Cleo. She has two grandsons and one granddaughter, two step-sons and one step daughter. A memorial service will be held Friday, February 21, 2003, at 1:00 p.m., at the First Methodist Church of Erie, 707 Sassafras St, Erie, PA.
