Obituary for Huning

Mary Etta Huning, 73, a resident of Los Lunas, died Monday, February 10, 2003. She is survived by her husband, John Huning of Los Lunas; son, Tyler Huning near Mountainair; daughters, Eilene Huning of Albuquerque and Nancy Schmierbach and husband, Don of Phoenix, AZ. She was preceded in death by her mother, Catherine Dearing Bell Philbrick; and father, Will Bell. Mary Etta was born on July 9, 1929. She attended Albuquerque Public Schools and the University of New Mexico where she graduated with honors. Mary Etta was a class officer and was named outstanding student of UNM. She was president of Mortar Board, a scholastic honor society, and president of Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority. Mary Etta married Jack Huning in 1951 after which she devoted herself to raising her family. In later years, she became a member of PEO and"The Happy Hookers" needlepoint group. She was a member of the Lobo Club. Services will be held Saturday, 10:00 a.m., at St. Johns Episcopal Cathedral, 318 Silver SW, with The Reverend Adams Lovkin, officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul NE. Friends may visit French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel, Friday, 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Albuquerque Christian Children's Home, 5700 Winter Haven Rd.
