Obituary for Moore

Lucile Moore. Closed casket services are scheduled at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, February 8, 2003 at Terpening & Son Mortuary for Sarah Lucile Moore of Artesia. Mrs. Moore, 87, died Monday, February 3, 2003 in Albuquerque. J.T. Ross will officiate at the services with burial at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Eric Woolcott, Chris Woolcott, Daniel Woolcott, Jon Michael Brady, Dale Laman, and Bill Laman. Mrs. Moore was born October 9, 1915 in Artesia; the daughter of John Morgan Norris and Margaret Mae Gillespie Norris. She grew up with her family on Cottonwood (NM). She graduated from Lake Arthur High School and earned a teaching degree from New Mexico State University. She taught school in Santa Rosa where she met her future husband, LaMoin Moore. She and LaMoin were married in Artesia on December 28, 1946. They moved to Artesia in 1950, where they owned and operated Moore's Bakery for many years. He preceded her in death July 1, 1989. She was also preceded in death by brothers James Norris, Wayne Norris, and Homer Wayland Norris; and by a sister Alice Norris. Lucile was a member of Eighth and Grand Church of Christ. Survivors include a daughter Carolyn Walters of Highlands Ranch, CO; sisters, Dorothy Norris and Johnnie Mae Laman both of Artesia, and Nella B. Taylor of Rio Rancho; a brother, George Rex Norris of Hagerman; grandsons, Eric Woolcott of Denver, Chris Woolcott of Albuquerque, and Daniel Woolcott of Wheatridge, Colo.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
