Joseph Richard Melendez, 41, of Albuquerque, died Monday, February 3, 2003. Joseph had a big heart and was deeply sensitive, intelligent and articulate. He will always be remembered for his sense of humor, his love of children, his great cooking and his trademark sunglasses. He is survived by his loving mother, Arcelia; and devoted father, Frank Melendez; a baby boy, Joseph; and his daughter, Mariah; brothers, Francisco and Phillip and wife, Roberta; sisters, Louise Chavez and husband, Robert, Consuelo Mickey and husband, Gary, Ursula Martinez and husband, David; many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews; as well as countless cousins, relatives and longtime friends. He will be buried in Holman, New Mexico at La Morada de San Isidro, on Friday. Services are at St. Gertrude Church in Mora, NM at 10:00 a.m., Friday. Pallbearers are his nephews, Miguel, Roberto, Pablo, David, Lorenzo, Estevan and Marcus.
