Obituary for Waltzer

Elmo Clarence (Walt) Waltzer, 88, died on Wednesday, January 22, 2003 at 1:45 p.m. He is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Margaret Allen Waltzer; daughters, Peggy Rosefeldt and Julie Flick both of New Orleans, LA and Winnie Waltzer-Hackett of Sandia Park, NM; grandchildren, Chad Flick, Francine Flick, Frank Flick, Bryan Flick, David Hackett, and Susan Hackett; and great-grandchildren, Alexa Flick-Brown and Jersey Flick. He is the son of the late Henry Waltzer and Julia Mayer and the brother of the late Paul Waltzer. Mr. Waltzer was a native of New Orleans, LA and a resident of Lambeth House for the past three years. He served in the U. S. Navy from 1942 - 1946 and in the Naval Reserves until 1951. He earned his bachelor's degree from Tulane University in 1955 and worked for the Army Corps of Engineers for 37 years. He was an usher at St. Rita Church and St. Frances Cabrini Church. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Mass to be celebrated at ST. FRANCES CABRINI CATHOLIC CHURCH, 5500 PARIS AVENUE, New Orleans, LA on Monday, January 27, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. Interment St. Louis Cemetery No. 3. Visitation will be at JACOB SCHOEN AND SON FUNERAL HOME, 3827 CANAL STREET, New Orleans, LA on Sunday, January 26, 2003 between the hours of 6:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. on Monday at St. Frances Cabrini Church after 10:00 a.m.. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Elmo C. and Margaret Allen Waltzer Scholarship Fund, 6823 St. Charles Avenue, New Orleans, LA 70130.
