Obituary for Martinez

Juan Orlando Martinez, age 72, beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother was welcomed into the arms of the Lord, Friday, January 17, 2003, while surrounded by his loving family. Juan was born in San Ysidro, NM to the late Federico and Delfina Martinez. He was a proud Veteran of the United States Navy, who retired after 23 years of service. He was preceded in death by a son, David Randall Martinez; four brothers, Salvador, Patrick, Anselmo, and Delbert Martinez; and one sister Unella Martinez. Juan is survived by his loving wife, Sophie Armijo-Martinez of the family home; his children, Jodie Martinez of Albuquerque, Donna Fragua, Joseph Chavez and wife, Janelle, and Christopher Chavez all of Sandia Pueblo; his precious grandchildren, Juan, Sara, Alex, Timothy and Frosty; one great-grandson, Solomon. Also surviving are four sisters, Marcella Brownson, Mary Lou Sierra and husband, Filomeno, Dolores Paredes, Roberta Hernandez and husband, Mario; three brothers, Emilio G. Martinez, Eugene Martinez, Gary Martinez and wife Mary; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Juan will be greatly missed by his loving family and by those who knew and loved him. Visitations will be Sunday from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Alameda Mortuary. A Rosary will be recited Sunday at 6:00 p.m. at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church. Funeral Services will be conducted Monday at 9:00 a.m. also at the church. Interment will follow at San Carlos Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Christopher Chavez, Joseph Chavez, Michael Martinez, Fredrick Martinez, Gary Martinez, Filomeno Sierra, Mark Garson, and Eugene Martinez. Honorary bearers will be Kasara Martinez, Jerry Holmes, Alfred Armijo, Robert Finley, Alejandro Sierra, Timothy Chavez, Franklin Brownson, and Jacob Martinez.
