Obituary for Lopez

Eugene J. Lopez, age 79, beloved father, grandfather, great grandfather, and brother was welcomed into the arms of the Lord our Savior, Friday, January 17, 2003. Eugene was born on May 20, 1924 in Utah to the late Fermin and Adelina Lopez; he was a resident of Albuquerque formerly of Santa Fe, NM. Eugene was a proud Veteran of the United States Army, who served our country during World War II. He was preceded in death by his wife Maria Elena (Helen) Lopez; a sister, Beatrice Paz; seven brothers, Orlando, Tony, Arthur, Pete, Fermin, Horacio and Emilio Lopez. Eugene is survived by his loving son and daughter in law, Ed and Mary Lou Lopez; his precious grandchildren, Annette Lobato, and Michelle Lopez; great grandchildren, Cody, Brittany Lobato, and Lane Lopez. Also surviving are two sisters, Adelina Baker and Cordelia Ferran; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Eugene will be greatly missed by his loving family and by those who knew and loved him. Visitations will be Monday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 1502 Sara Rd., SE in Rio Rancho; where a rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m.; and on Tuesday visitations will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Alameda Mortuary, where a rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 12:00 p.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Santa Fe, NM. Interment will follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery at 1:30 p.m. Casket bearers will be Frank Lucero, Mario Aguirre, Eliud Vigil, Rodney Romero, Mike Lucero, and Tom Urban. Honorary bearers will be Bob Bogard, Steve Francis, Mathew Lucero, Tom Baldoni, Jerry Murphy, and Jacob Montoya. Funeral Services are entrusted to: Alameda Mortuary 9420 4th Street NW 898-3160
