Obituary for Beg

Hank Beg, age 78 , of Los Alamos passed away January 15, 2003. He was lovingly known as"Pop","Papa","Big Papa", and"Grandpapa." Hank served in WWII from 1944 to 1946. He was a machinist at the Los Alamos National Labs from 1954-1985. After retirement he became a tinsmith, woodworker and Rosary maker; his work was displayed at the Los Alamos Art Center. Hank was a master joker, always bringing laughter to everyone he met. He was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Pauline Beg; and sister, Mary. He was also preceded in death by his loving wife, Miriam. Hank is survived by his son, Gary J. Beg and wife, Michelle; daughter, Donna Burns and son-in-law, Steve; grandchildren, Jeff and Kari Beg, and Pamela Burns; great-grandchildren, Krista Rose Beg and Alicia Burns; brother, John Beg and wife, Velma; sister, Ann Didier and husband, Bill; special niece, Mary Durren; special friend and companion, Rose Martinez; and many other nieces, nephews, family and friends. A Rosary will be recited on Monday, January 20, 2003, at 7:00 p.m., at The Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Los Alamos. Mass of the Resurrection will be held on Tuesday, January 21, 2003, at 10:00 a.m., also at The Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Los Alamos. Interment will be on Tuesday at the Santa Fe National Cemetery at 1:00 p.m. A reception will follow services at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish Hall at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Los Alamos Visiting Nurses Service, 116 Central Park Sq., Los Alamos, or to their favorite charity.
