Obituary for Kelsey

James Robert Kelsey, 58, of Port Aransas, TX passed away on January 14, 2003 after a long illness. He was born on June 15, 1944 in Conroe, TX to Rex and Merlee Kelsey. He was a graduate of Alice High School, Alice, TX and the University of Texas at Austin, TX. He began his career at Sandia National Laboratories in Albuquerque as an Aerospace Engineer in 1968 and retired in 2000 as Director of Monitoring Systems & Technology. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Linda Faye and Mary Frances. He is survived by his loving wife of 34 years. Suzanne Kelsey of Port Aransas, TX; seven cousins, Kay Leipzig of Brownwood, TX, Rex Charles Kelsey of San Antonio, TX, Nick Kralj of Austin, TX, Jeannon Kralj of Austin, TX, Barbara Commiato of Kerns, TX, Jim Ed Kelsey of Tulsa, OK and Frank Kelsey of Houston, TX; sister-in-law, Terri Warring Keith of Lufkin, TX; niece, Rebecca Suzanne Waring of Lufkin, TX; and brother-in-law, Rick Waring of Shepherd, TX. He leaves many dear friends in Albuquerque and Port Aransas. He loved his work at Sandia Labs, home landscaping and construction and his volunteer work in Port Aransas. He was a member of Kiwanis Club, Keep Port Aransas beautiful and Community Presbyterian Church. He loved the tranquility of the water and the thrill of flight. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2003 at 1:00 p.m. at the Community Presbyterian Church in Port Aransas, TX. Reverend Richard Safford will be officiating. Burial will follow at Royal Palms Cemetery, Port Aransas, TX. In lieu of flowers, friends are asked to make contributions to Port Aransas Animal Shelter at 409 W. Cotter, Port Aransas, TX 78373,
