Obituary for Tapia

Julia Tapia Sawtelle, 53, passed away at home surrounded by her loving family December 15, 2001. A native New Mexican, she worked at the Biological Park and the Albuquerque Rio Grande Zoo as a cashier. She loved caring for animals and helped many people. Julie is survived by her sons, Joe, Luis, and Felipe and grandson, Mariano Tapia; mother, Margaret Sawtelle; brothers, George, James Jr., and Richard Sawtelle; sisters, Barbara Talent, Monica Daly, and Caroline Capps; nephews, nieces, other family and friends who loved and will miss her. Services will be held at Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church, Lomas and Tennessee NE. A rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 18, 2001. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 19, 2001, with burial following at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Arrangements by Direct Funeral Services, 2919 4th ST. NW.
