Obituary for Enfield

Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Saturday March 08, 2003

Robert Noyes Enfield died March 5, 2003, in Santa Fe, NM. Bob was born April 4, 1928, in Hollywood, California, to Lucie Curnutte Enfield and Harold Enfield, who preceded him in death, as did his niece, Susan Seymour Adams. Bob spent his school years in Big Bear Lake, CA. He enlisted in the U S. Navy at 16 years of age, and served during World War II in Hawaii. After working as a land man in West Texas, Bob went into the oil and gas business for himself in 1957. Bob and his family moved to Santa Fe in 1971 from Roswell, NM, where they had lived since the mid-1950's. A long-time independent oil and natural gas producer, Bob was president of the New Mexico Oil and Gas Association from 1980 through 1982. Bob loved to fly fish and hunt quail, play golf and ski, entertain in his home and host family gatherings. He had a zest for life and enormous curiosity. Bob was a voracious reader, an avid bridge player, and classical music and wine enthusiast ("Uno Mas Ano"). Bob took his role as patriarch of his family seriously and with great generosity. His friends and family remember him as an extraordinarily genuine and modest man who freely shared his good fortune with many people in a variety of ways. We will remember him for his marvelous ability to provide a lasting and positive influence on so many. As Bob wished, he has been cremated and his ashes will be spread in the mountains by his family. Donations in Bob's memory may be made to the charity of your choice. Bob is survived by his wife, Kay; his sister, Mollie Seymour, of Santa Fe; his daughter, Lisa Enfield and Paul Bardacke, of Albuquerque; his two sons, Eric and wife, Marty, and Stuart, of Santa Fe; three grandchildren, Ariel Sklar, Ethan Sklar, and Tim Enfield. Other survivors include Mona Coffield, his former wife and the mother of his children; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
