Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Wednesday March 19, 2003

Rita M. Saiz has gone on in Glory to reign for eternity with the Lord. She passed away March 14, 2003. She was born May 22, 1929 in Magdalena, New Mexico to Martinano Chavez and Amalia Chavez. She is survived by her daughter, Rachel Romero; sons, Rudy, David, Francisco; grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She's also survived by her sisters, Cecilia, Helen, Julia; and brother, Martin. Her fondest memories of her youth were the years spent on the family ranch, now part of the Alamo Reservation. She spent many a day on the open range riding with her father as a ranch-hand. Rita had enjoyed 12 years retirement after her career with General Electric. Her passion was her family. She was a woman of wisdom and great integrity. She will be missed, but for the Hope of joining her in Glory someday. Cremation has taken place and a private ceremony will be held in Magdalena, N.M. later this week. The family wants to thank Rita's friends for their prayers and Vista Hospice for the gentle care they provided our loving mother.
