Obituary for Senseney

Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Wednesday March 26, 2003

Robert J. Senseney, born May 14, 1923, made his passage on Thursday, March 20, 2003 following a heroic struggle with cancer. Robert's life was a celebration of determination, courage, vision, intellectualism, and phenomenal ingenuity. He was a devoted husband, a loyal and revered father, and a playful attentive grandfather. He served in combat in WWII and influenced many lives during his 25-year teaching career at Jefferson Jr. High. Robert was a man of remarkable talent - there wasn't a question he couldn't answer or a problem he couldn't solve. No project was beyond his ability. If it could be built, he could build it. Above all he was a teacher in all aspects of his life. He was a true renaissance man. Robert is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, JoAnn, their four children, Ronnelle Browning and husband, Dave of Washington, Jan Lemme and husband, Frederick of Texas, Robert Senseney, II, and wife, Nan of Wyoming, Jeff Sensensey and wife, Brenda of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Matthew Browning, Nicholas Browning, Frederick Lemme, Jr., Brooke Revels; brother, Gary Senseney of Connecticut; and sister-in-law, Marie Loudner of Oklahoma with whom he was very close. Robert will be missed tremendously for his guidance, creativity, wisdom, wit and enthusiasm. Our hearts are forever full from the inspiration of his rich and well-lived life. Services will be held Wednesday, March 26, 2003, 10:00 a.m., at French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. Chapel, with Pastor Rick Donaho officiating. Interment will take place at 1:00 p.m., at Santa Fe National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the National Education Association or American Cancer Society.
