Obituary for Dixon

Santino Salvador de Cruz-Dixon (Rufus), age 25. Born: November 19, 1977 Died: March 23, 2003Santino had a smile that lit up the night. Santino's engaging smile made you pause from your worries to feel a warm glow. Santino's open smile made quick friends out of strangers anxious to know this happy spirit. Santino's loving smile reached a place inside you where words don't go. Everyone who received his smile has its imprint stamped in their hearts. Santino loved to fish, cycle and repair old cars. He was a Jack-of-all-trades. He loved to help others. Mostly, he loved to look you in the eye and smile. Santino attended Sandia Prep School and graduated from Cushing Academy. He is survived by his mother, Valentina de Cruz-Dixon. His father, William S. Dixon, passed away four days after Santino. Santino is survived by his little sister, Naila Dixon; older sisters, Sarah Dixon and Heather Badal; brother in-law, John Badal; nieces, Rhythm and Trinity Badal; aunt, Elizabeth Dixon, NY; grandmother, Adelaida Cruz; aunts, Lola and husband, Bob Granillo, Frances and husband, Ernest Kemp, Angie Cruz, Adela and husband, Gary Kerns; uncle, Gregorio Cruz Jr. and wife, Anita, all of Tempe, Arizona; along with numerous cousins. He was predeceased by grandfather, Gregorio Cruz; and grandparents, Alma and John Dixon. He will also be missed by his faithful companions, Pedals and Malacite. Rufus, our hearts are broken that you left us. We will cherish in our hearts the 25 years we were blessed having you in our lives. Everyone is invited to Services celebrating Santino's life at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 1, 2003 at The First Unitarian Church, 3701 Carlisle Blvd, Albuquerque. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to All Faiths Receiving Home, 1709 Moon St, NE, Albuquerque, New Mexico 87112. Interment will be private.
