Charles Laster, passed away Wednesday April 9, 2003 at the age of 74. He is survived by his mother, Bernie Lee Smith of Dallas, TX; his daughter, Carolyn Smith; and son and daughter-in-law, Gregory and Christy Smith, all of Albuquerque, NM; and four grandchildren. He is also survived by his three stepdaughters, Laura, Kimberly and Stephanie; and four step-grandchildren. Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his second wife, Beverly Ann; and his sons, Steven and Jeffrey. Mr. Smith was born in Bossier City, LA on April 9, 1929. He visited family in New Mexico as a child. He was a veteran of both World War II and the Korean War from 1946 to 1950. He married Margaret Bellucci in 1950 and, in 1956, moved his family to New Mexico where he lived out his life. A Memorial Service will be held Thursday April 17, 2003 at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel of Sunset Memorial Park at 924 Menaul NE in Albuquerque with Pastor Charles Crutchfield officiating.
