Mary C. Mares, age 69, a lifelong resident of Santa Fe, passed away on Monday, April 21, 2003, due to an extended illness. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Jose and Guadalupita Quintana; two sisters, Nellie Vigil and husband, Alfredo, Jennie Sandoval and husband, Demetrio; brother, Jose Quintana, Jr. and wife, Kenny; brother-in-law, Manuel Sena; In-laws, Manuel and Teresita Mares; brothers-in-law, Ernest and Joe Mares; sister-in-law, Eluteria Vincent; and one granddaughter, Alexa Rae Martinez. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Frank Mares; six children, William Mares and wife, Denise, Samuel Mares and wife, Colette, Linda Mares and Matt Martinez, Dennis Mares and Sylvia Raybon, Mark Mares and wife, Lisa, Frances Martinez and husband, Gerald; 12 grandchildren, Shawn Lury and husband, Charles, Sy Mares and wife, Brandi, Bianca and Chantel Mares, Abbey Martinez, Janice Mares and Jacob Vigil, Rebecca Mares, Joshua, Krystal and Phillip Mares, Andres and Dani Rae Martinez; three great-grandchildren, Davina White, Danyka Mares, Alyssa Vigil; and step-granddaughter, Shanaya Duran. Mary is also survived by six sisters, Annie Carrillo and husband, Robert, Esther Sena, Tina Quintana, Teresa Salinas, Pauline Baca, and Kathy Brownholtz; brother-in-law, Manuel Mares and wife, Jenny; sisters-in-law, Lena Norton, Consuelo Martinez and husband, Roy, Esther Martinez and husband, Frank, Erlinda Herrera and husband, Freddie; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to being a loving wife, mother and grandmother, Mary was a prominent business women; the owner/vice president of Frank's Plumbing and Heating, Inc., for 32 years. A Rosary will be recited on Thursday, April 24, 2003 at 7:00 p.m., Santa Maria de La Paz Catholic Church. Mass will be held on Friday, April 25, 2003 at 10:00 a.m., Santa Maria de La Paz Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Rosario Cemetery.
