Obituary for Thomas

Harold B.Thomas, 81, a longtime resident of Albuquerque, passed away on Wednesday, April 23, 2003. Harold was born December 20, 1921 the son of Burton and Nora West Thomas in Mosquero, New Mexico. (Harold served in the US Army during WW II.) He had worked in Quality Control with the Sandia National Laboratories for 33 years before retiring. Harold was an avid sportsman, loved fishing, baseball, softball, and basketball. He had been a pitcher, and had the nick name of"Speed". Harold was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Velma, in July of 2001. He is survived by his daughter, Vickie Rogers; one brother, Elton Thomas and wife Gale; grandson, Michael Rogers and wife Taasha; two great-grandchildren, Kelsey and Hunter; also numerous nieces and nephews. The family wishes to express a special"Thank You" to Dr. Matthew Montoya, for his pulmonary special care and his great sense of humor. It has been suggested that memorials be made in Harold's name to the American Lung Association for Fibrosis Research, 216 Truman NE, Albuquerque, NM 87108. Graveside Services (will be held on Monday, April 28,2003 at 10:30 AM) at the National Cemetery in Santa Fe. (Military honors will be presented by the V.F.W., Post 2951.)
