Obituary for Sullivan

Wilma Bird Sullivan, 73, passed away Saturday, April 26, 2003. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert R. (Sully) Sullivan; and her mother and father, Georgia and Pat Bird. She is survived by a son, Robert M. (Mike) Sullivan and his wife, Ruth of Calumet, MN; a daughter, Dr. Lee Sullivan of Las Cruces; two granddaughters, Stephanie Burke of Las Cruces and Jessica Burke of University of Arkansas, Little Rock, AR; two sisters, Irene Squires and her husband, Bill of Enid, OK and Norma Brewster and her husband, Vern of Albuquerque; nieces and nephews, Patricia Eubank and her two children, Jason and Jana Eubank, Bob and his wife Carolyn Squires, Ryan and Josh Squires, David and his wife Nancy Squires, their two children Gentry and Wesley Squires, Steve Brewster, and Laura and her husband, Scott Wallin, and their two children, Michelle and Lori Wallin. Wilma was born and raised in Breckenridge, OK. She graduated from Garber High School in Oklahoma in 1947. She moved with her family to Albuquerque in 1947 for her Father's health. She went to work for Mountain Bell and was married to Mr. Sullivan on October 16, 1953. Wilma received her degree in nursing from the University of Albuquerque and realized her lifelong dream to become an Operating Room Nurse in 1974. She was a volunteer for the Albuquerque Convention and Visitors Bureau for many years. Wilma was a wonderful friend to many people and she had a kind and generous heart. She was a devoted daughter, wife, mother and sister. She was especially proud of her granddaughters. She was a family person who loved deeply and will be missed by all who had the grand experience of knowing her. She fought a brave but quiet battle with grace and dignity that defined her being. Graveside Services will be held on Thursday, May 8, 2003, at 2:00 p.m., at Sandia Memory Gardens, 9500 San Pedro NE. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made in her name to your favorite charity. For those of you who came by and spent a moment with her, or said a prayer, or simply thought of our Mother, Grandmother, Sister, and Aunt, we thank you.
