Obituary for Chafey

James E. Chafey, 74, a resident of Albuquerque, died Tuesday, May 13, 2003. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Levena Chafey of Albuquerque; son, Steven Chafey and wife, Marjorie of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Thomas Pounds of Denver, Brandon Chafey and Travis Chafey, both of Albuquerque; sisters, Zella Masters of Grove, OK and Ann Lawson of Broken Arrow, OK; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Alma Martin. Mr. Chafey retired after 23 years as a chief master sergeant in the U.S. Air Force including a tour in Vietnam. He then worked for Rust Equipment retiring in 1989. James loved to travel with his wife. He loved his family and first and foremost, he was a devoted husband and loving father and grandfather. Services will be held Monday, May 19, 2003, 11:00 a.m., at French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. Chapel. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery. Friends may visit French Mortuary, Sunday, May 18, 2003, 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Vietnam Veteran Memorial.
