Obituary for Sanchez

Joe M. Sanchez, 65, a resident of Jareles, NM, passed away at his home on Saturday, May 24, 2003. He was a member of Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church. Joe retired from the Belen Public Schools in 2002 as a Security Officer after 25 years of outstanding service. He was a long time member of the Valencia County Sheriffs Posse, in which he competed and won many horsemanship awards throughout the state with the Posse. He loved horses and loved any activity that was outdoors. He was preceded in death by his son, Brian in 1997; his father, Eulogio in 2000; his brother, Lorenzo in 2000. Joe is survived by his three children, Gary Sanchez, Annette Sanchez, both of Albuquerque, NM, and Laura GabaldĒn of Alamosa, CO; his granddaughter, Brianna Sanchez; his mother, Estella Sanchez of Jarales, NM; his sister, Lourdes Ponce and her husband, Richard; his two brothers, Al Sanchez of Jarales, NM, and Mac Sanchez of Belen. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. A viewing will be held on Tuesday, May 27, 2003 from 5:30 p.m - 6:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church followed by a Rosary at 6:00 p.m. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 28, 2003 at 9:00 a.m. with interment following at Our Lady of Belen Memorial Gardens.
