Obituary for Gutierrez

Horacio A. Gutierrez, age 75, passed away May 28, 2003 at Lake Mead Hospital in Las Vegas, Nevada after an illness. Horacio was born March 13, 1928 in Santa Roa, NM to the home of Juan Pablo and Andrea Urban Gutierrez. He was a Veteran of WWII. He received the World War II Victory Medal and the Army OS Occupational Medal. Horacio worked for the United States Post Office in Santa Rosa for over 30 years retiring in 1984. He was also a past member of the St. Joseph Cemetery Board and was instrumental in placing water lines and planting numerous trees in the Cemetery. He is preceded in death by his parents, his sisters Theresa Duran, Antonia Warlick and Josephine Gutierrez, his nephews Bobby Ray Gutierrez and Marshall Bass. Survivors include his brother, Jose F. Gutierrez and wife, Josephine of Albuquerque; his sisters, Dolores Salazar and husband, Donald of Albuquerque, Otilia Wisniewski and husband, Frank of El Paso, TX and Pita Sanchez of Las Vegas, Nevada. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews and a host of relatives and friends. Rosary Services will be conducted on Sunday evening June 1, 2003 from St. Rose of Lima Church in Santa Rosa. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, June 2, 2003 at 10:00 a.m. also from St. Rose Church with Father Stephen Schultz officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. Serving as Pallbearers are Mike Sanchez, Steve Wisniewski, Jason Wisniewski, Roger Riley, Tony Hernandez, Nick Carmody, Art Brewbaker and Joe Urban.
